UNESCO Youth Forum - Call for Belizean Applicants 

22-30 November 2012, Grenada
UNESCO, through its Intangible Cultural Heritage Section, invites youth participants from the Caribbean to submit applications to attend theCaribbean Youth Forum on Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage to be held in Grenada, 23-30 November 2012. Each National Commission is responsible for the dissemination of this information and for the pre-selection at national level. Candidates must submit applications to the National Commission of their country by 22 August 2012.

The Forum intends to:
  • Build knowledge of youth on the Convention’s concepts and mechanisms and their role in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage;
  • Foster dialogue between youth and international representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations on strategies to strengthen the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage;
  • Orient youth toward activities and collaboration geared at safeguarding their intangible cultural heritage, building in the process mutual respect for the heritage of others.

SELECTION PROCESSOnce applicants have submitted their application to attend the Caribbean Youth Forum on the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage to your National Commission, it will go through various stages:
  1. Submission by National Commission - after completing its pre-selection, determining that candidate profiles corresponds to the skills and abilities required, respective National Commissions will submit the applications to the Intangible Cultural Heritage Section at UNESCO by 31 August 2012. Each country may submit a maximum of 5 applications.
  2. Examination - applications are examined by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Section.
  3. Selection - the Intangible Cultural Heritage Section will inform candidates directly if their application is successful (their respective National Commissions will be notified).
  4. Additional Information: selected candidates will be expected to confirm their availability to attend the forum as well as to provide additional information as requested by UNESCO. All boarding and travel expenses of participants to the forum will be covered by UNESCO.
